The island of Sicily located south of the Italian peninsula known for its mainly mountainous landscape with hardly any planes along its coast, represents one of the outermost unique areas touched by the Mediterranean sea. The island boasts a history of tradition and prestige` in viticulture. Its climate and soil mix have made this island the frontier of Italian wines especially in the production of natives types such as Catarrat, Inzolia, and Nero d’Avola; and all auchthonous types like great Chardonnay and Merlot.
